Matheson Trucking, Inc. is looking for experienced Truck/Trailer Mechanics for our Salt Lake City, UT terminal to help us as we expand to new heights and support our growing Service and Repair operations.

Truck/Trailer Mechanics play a key role in ensuring the day to day preventative maintenance and repair on tractors and trailers are successfully performed. This is a position requiring the ability to perform a heavy volume of repairs on a day to day basis.

Responsibilities/Requirements:

•Responsible for repairs and required preventive maintenance of trailers
•Inspects, trouble shoots, diagnoses and performs maintenance on equipment
•Performs safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documents required by DOT, company and any other Federal, State or Local regulations
•Interprets work orders and technical manuals
•Repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systems
•Inspect Brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition; adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment
•Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
•Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
•Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
•Attach test instruments to equipment, and read dials and gauges to diagnose malfunctions.
•Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery such as pumps and compressors.
•Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.
•Diagnose and repair vehicle heating and cooling systems.
•Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valves.
•Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
•Disassemble and overhaul internal combustion engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches, and differential units.
•Specialize in repairing and maintaining parts of the engine, such as fuel injection systems.
•Repair and adjust seats, doors, and windows, and install and repair accessories.
•Measure vehicle emissions to determine whether they are within acceptable limits.

Qualifications/Competencies:
•5 years related experience
•Must possess own tools
•Class A Driver’s License required
•A/C 609
•ASE heavy truck certifications
•Experience with the following diagnostic software: Cummins Insite, Caterpillar ET, and Eaton Roadranger, Bendex ACOM, and Haldex.
•Experience in all aspects of trailer suspension, brakes, and overhead doors required

Ideal candidates will possess the following:
•10 years’ experience and OEM certification
•Proficient in all aspects of repair in maintenance of a large commercial truck fleet.
•Experience working with a Preventative maintenance program, engine, transmission, and rear drive axle overhaul preferred.

Compensation: $19hr-$23hr Depending on experience
