The Specialty Machine Operator performs routine production duties utilizing machines and tools requiring specialized training such as crank grinders, CNC machinery, mills and lathes, precision welders, etc. The operator is responsible for the throughput and quality of the product which is measured to a standard. The product produced is necessary for the final assembly line and for direct sale to the customer.
● Adheres to all safety guidelines, and uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) preventing incidents or injury to self or others.
● Performs work according to the highest quality standards to produce a superior end product, meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
● Participates in and supports the principles of Open Book Management.
● Verifies conformance of processes or work piece to specifications.
● Studies specifications, blueprints, sketch, or description to determine machine settings, tolerances, adjustments and repair methods.
● Checks materials prior to processing to assure they meet specifications.
● Verifies dimensions with measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
● Measures, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
● Sets up, adjusts, and operates all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
● Performs other duties as assigned.
